Is WhatIMade really free?

Yes. Making and hosting your site on a whatimade.app address is free forever. No hidden fees, no credit card. The only paid thing is a custom web address of your own — and even that is free for your first year, no card needed to start (then £7 a month, billed annually, £84 a year), whether you buy one here or bring one you already own. The domain itself we pass through at cost, with no markup on top. Your files are always yours, so you can leave any time.

Do I need an account?

You need a Google sign-in only when you publish. Browsing the landing and the showcase doesn't require an account. Sign-in takes about three seconds.

Can I update my site after publishing?

Yes. Sign in, drop in a new version, and the live site updates. Every past version is kept so you can go back if you want to.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Connect a domain you already own, or buy one right here — either way your first year is free (then £7 a month, billed annually, £84 a year). Your site is always free on a whatimade.app address; the custom domain is the only paid part, and we pass the registrar's price through at cost on top. Your files are always yours, so you can leave any time.

What happens if I cancel?

Your free sites stay online forever. If you have a custom domain and want to cancel, you keep the domain and can point it elsewhere anytime.

What happens if WhatIMade shuts down?

Every publish also copies the files into your own Google Drive, in a folder you control. If WhatIMade disappears tomorrow, those files are still in your Drive. We also keep a cold zipped archive on Cloudflare R2 and run a monthly restore test.

How do I leave WhatIMade and take my site with me?

Delete the site from your dashboard and it goes offline right away. We email you a one-click link so you can bring it back within seven days if you change your mind; after that we remove our copy. The folder in your Google Drive is untouched.
